The end of mobile fitting has come.
We know how convenient it is to have someone come and fit a towbar on your drive, we have done it ourselves for years and probably fitted your last tow bar on your drive, but with complex modern vehicles is it really the right thing to do?
Todays vehicles are packed with sophisticated electronics and have become much more complex to work on, a tow bar install is no longer a 1 hour job like when I started 10+ years ago, due to the way vehicles are designed, materials used and how they utilise every possible space for tanks, batteries, modules, etc, access requires extensive removal of parts, something we are experts at, but to do it properly and to prevent damage this takes time, patience, space, a variety of tools and expertise, some tow bars can take 5 hours to fit and fully program.
Many vehicles also require a stable battery support and internet connection when performing towbar related software updates, otherwise known as vehicle coding, essential in avoiding a non start software fault and a costly repair bill.
With our unpredictable weather, the risk of damage to parts, restricted working space, and many modern hybrid and electric vehicles not permitted to be worked on outside of a workshop this is simply something we can no longer offer on a mobile fitting basis.
We took the decision in 2022 to move into a business premises, with the knowledge that we needed to future proof the business to enable us to safely continue working on modern vehicles, and from mid 2024 we no longer offer a mobile fitting service.
Our Corby tow bar fitting centre is fully open, we are well located in the heart of Corby, close to the town centre, next to a Tescos superstore, the train station and a retail park, we also have a comfortable waiting area with free Wi-Fi and drinks if you needed to work whilst you wait, we have tried to make the process as convenient as possible and ultimately what's best for your new vehicle.
